Town twinning

Arras, Doncaster and Schneeberg – that are three names of towns, with which a lot of the citizens of Herten are combining a multiplicity of experiences. Since 1984 exists the town twinning with the north-French city Arras. 1989 the English Doncaster joined the partnership, one year later the inner German partnership with the Saxon Schneeberg. In the beginning of January 2009 the 4^th partnership with the Polish town Szczytno was established.

Various encounters especially concerning student exchange, but also between associations and cultural drivers of music, art and dance have allowed looking left and right and gave the anticipants of the exchange exciting insights of the life in the twin towns.

But not only the meeting of the other towns has a charm of its own. A lot of hosts had used the exchange for the visitors of the twin towns to show them their own town – and had got to know better or even discovered new beautiful facettes of their country.
